Durham Potters Guild | True North

Exhibition Dates: September 6 to October 19, 2025
Opening Reception: Wednesday, September 24, 7 to 9PM
Gallery A, Heritage Galleries

For over 30 years, Durham Potters Guild has brought together potters and ceramic artists, encouraging and supporting them through monthly meetings, workshops and twice yearly public show and sales. This non-profit group encompasses almost 40 members from throughout Durham as well as outside the Region. Members of the Guild are artists, who use clay to create both unique and practical pieces.

At this show being curated at Station Gallery, members of Durham Potters Guild were challenged to explore their True North, and the ceramic pieces on display speak to each artists’ own idea of what it means to them.

“True north is an awareness of direction. It’s a guidance, your orienting point, your fixed point in a spinning world that helps you stay on track. It’s your internal compass unique to you and only you, representing who you are at your deepest level. True north is a sense of being at home within yourself. What feels good to you at your core is your true north.”
