BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION OF DURHAM – UNMASKING BRAIN INJURY

Student Artwork Takes over Station Gallery

June 1 to July 6, 2025

June is Brain Injury Awareness Month and Station Gallery partners with Brain Injury Association of Durham (BIAD) to present Unmasking Brain Injury. In this group exhibition there’s a story behind every mask and behind every mask there’s a person—a person that has been touched by brain injury.

The Unmasking Brain Injury initiative is a powerful way to raise awareness and empower survivors. This creative project invites individuals affected by brain injuries to design masks that express their unique journey, struggles and triumphs using colours and textures that word cannot capture.

The Unmasking Brain Injury project is all about giving survivors a voice, fostering understanding and creating empathy in the community. These masks represent more than just art—they represent real stories and real lives.
