Kat Honey: Peeling Back the Layers
June 14 to August 23, 2025
Opening reception: Saturday, June 14 from 1PM to 4PM
Gallery A
Kat Honey’s solo exhibition addresses the actual method of decollage and the nature of unpacking and deconstructing femininity as presented by mainstream media—both for the viewers and for the artist.
Honey’s recent collage and decollage work remixes contemporary mainstream fashion imagery to investigate notions of identity, beauty, and evolving social norms. In transforming such images of feminine “perfection” into something more raw, layered and nuanced, viewers will find something more sustaining – less othering – that nevertheless gives you a blast of visual pleasure. The artist states: “Keep the passion, ditch the baggage.” These works are created by hand at magazine scale, then digitally enhanced and greatly enlarged, magnifying the qualities of printing, paper textures, tears and cuts.
